Find your next outing in Montana Ranch Vacations

Have you ever wanted to be a cowboy? Looking for a unique vacation experience? Have you ever thought about taking a Montana Ranch vacation? Step right off the pages of a Louis L’Amour western and into the vacation of a lifetime set in the Old West.

Although many states have working dude ranches, Montana, however, contains the essence of the Old West. With its “Big Sky” and mountains, Montana is the perfect backdrop for a true ranch experience--making this a vacation unlike any other. However, you will just have to choose which part of the state would make the best setting for your picturesque vacation.

As with any vacation, there are many options to consider when choosing the right ranch for you. For a ranch vacation, you’ll also probably want to take into consideration your ability to ride horses. A beginner might like to learn basic horsemanship while a more experienced rider might like a challenge. Some ranches have scenic trails while others may have terrain that warrants more experience. Also, some ranches are more of a vacation than requiring you to lift a finger, while others are working ranches with the emphasis on “working.”

Another option to consider is the size of the ranch and the number of guests it can host all at once. This will have a drastic impact on your vacation–especially if the ranch is full. A guest ranch that hosts eight guests is a bit different than a ranch that serves eighty to one hundred guests. The difference will mostly be found in the organized activities and the social or dining experience.

Remember the time of the year you are looking to go on your dream vacation. Snow conditions often dictate when the ranch will open for the season. July and August will be your busiest months, but some ranches are also open in June and September and might offer early or late season specials.

Something else to consider on your Montana Ranch Vacation is the other activities a ranch may include. Options such as fishing, rafting, pack trips or guided hikes, trips to local attractions or if you have kids, you may want to select a ranch with that focus in mind. A single adult may also prefer a ranch that has a more adult focus or advertises specific adult weeks.

Speaking of options, the types of amenities a ranch has to offer could range from rustic to luxurious. Keep in mind what you are looking for in order to make this your dream vacation. Things that you might take for granted such as a TV, a hair dryer, and WI-FI may not be available. Take care to check what each ranch offers.

Narrow your search to a couple ranches, keeping in mind what is most important for your vacation, call and talk to the ranches on your list. I’m sure you will find a ranch perfect for you needs and you will soon be having the Montana Ranch Vacation you always dreamed about.
